Dr. Wirth draws on his own teaching of these time honored works in an exposition of the most recent developments, including a brief biography of Clementi, the purpose of his Sonatinas op 36, editions, updated performance practice, fingerings, and more. It is recommended to bring the Henle and Arthur Houle editions if possible.
Lecture/Recital: African-American Art Songs for Students-

This lecture/recital will feature seven songs in English by African-American composers that are appropriate for student singers high school through early college of any skin tone. I will provide a short biography of each composer and any prominent poets as well as some historical context for each song as well as swap out or pairing suggestions vis a vis “tried (tired?) and true” vocal literature
