The MMTA Board of Directors convened twice in the last week to discuss numerous items, including our many spring events and how recent developments affect our gatherings. The Board has voted, with very heavy hearts, to cancel the Honors Concert on June 13, 2020. The Board is currently researching and considering alternative options that recognize, honor, and reward the students who were selected as winners in the 2020 state contest. Though new plans are not yet finalized, the Board will continue to update the membership as we move forward in developing alternatives.

Spring is a busy time for us during the school year with many events such as theory exams as well as flute, guitar, string and piano exams, popular styles and music bridges programs.
We are committed to our students' and their families' health and well-being during this time, as well as the health and well-being of our teacher members.
To that end, all metro area MMTA events, through May 3, will not be held in person. Instead, we are providing options for events through this date:
Theory Exams for TC Eagan on January 18th have been POSTPONED. Teachers will be sent information about rescheduled exams when it is available.
The NW Detroit Lakes Piano Contest/Piano Solo Festival on January 18 has been POSTPONED. The event has been tentatively rescheduled for February 1st. Information will be sent to teachers as it becomes available.
